This November, Five Blocks is sharing more research than we ever have: more than 10 new studies, built with data from AIQ and IMPACT, our own platforms for tracking what AI engines and Google say about companies and their leaders. We would love your feedback. If there is research you are doing, or research you would like to do together with us, get in touch. See all #DataNovember studies.
#DataNovember, Day 6: company spotlight. We tracked what eight AI engines said about PepsiCo and its CEO, Ramon Laguarta, every day from September 6 to October 6, 2026: 495 answers, compared with three Fortune 100 peers, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble and Tyson Foods.
What we found
- About 1 in 5 answers about PepsiCo includes something negative, and 10 of the 12 answers with a serious negative point come from Google AI Mode.
- Plastic. Google AI Mode criticized PepsiCo over plastic in 16 of 31 answers, and Coca-Cola in 1. A 2024 study in Science Advances ranked Coca-Cola first for branded plastic pollution and PepsiCo second.
- The lawsuit, without the outcome. AI Mode cites New York’s 2023 lawsuit over PepsiCo’s plastic packaging. 0 of 5 of those answers mention that a judge dismissed it in October 2024.
- An outdated number. 79% of answers cite a PepsiCo website (Fortune 100 average: 82%), but PepsiCo’s consumer-care pages, cited in 37% of answers, still give 2024 revenue of “nearly $92 billion”. PepsiCo reported $93.9 billion for 2025.
- Wikipedia. 50% of answers cite the PepsiCo article, and AI Mode cites it in 31 of 31. Its brand list is dated 2015 and still includes Tropicana, which PepsiCo sold a majority stake in during 2022.
- The CEO. 93% of answers about Ramon Laguarta cover his Spanish roots, Chupa Chups or business school. AI knows the poppi and Siete deals, but does not credit them to him.
None of this is fixed. AI repeats what it can find, so the fix is publishing current, consistent facts where each engine looks.
