GeoSearch™
Search Google as if you were somewhere else.

A local search emulator solves a real problem that many Google users do not even know they have. That is why we built GeoSearch™, a free Chrome extension: it shows you the Google results page as it appears in locations of your choice, with no proxy server or VPN. Try it right here.

Live demo

See Google from any city, in any language.

Opens the Google results page as it appears in that city, in a new tab. No proxy server, no VPN. The same tool as the free GeoSearch™ Chrome extension.

The problem

Google results vary depending on where the searcher is.

Search engines are designed to provide the most relevant information possible to satisfy a query. In many cases, relevance depends on where the searcher is located and in what language they are searching. Google uses your IP address, and sometimes your device’s GPS, to record your most probable location.

Search “aquarium” in Baltimore and Google assumes you want the National Aquarium downtown. The same search in Los Angeles surfaces the Santa Monica, Monterey, and Long Beach aquariums instead.

The same is true for brands and individuals. Google will often serve locally relevant results: job openings in a specific location, content in a local language, depending on where the searcher is.

For businesses and brands with stakeholders in many different locations, being able to see how you look in multiple places at once is crucial.

Google results for Halcyon Bank searched as if from New York, NY (sample data). Top stories show neutral national business news about earnings and a new executive, the next result is the bank’s Wikipedia page, and the map shows two Manhattan branches rated about four stars.
The same Google search for Halcyon Bank as if from Charlotte, NC (sample data). Top stories lead with a local report that the bank will close six Charlotte branches and a lawsuit over frozen accounts, followed by a local complaints page rated 1.9 stars, low-rated branches on the map and local job listings.
Same search, two cities. “Halcyon Bank” run through GeoSearch™ as if from New York and from Charlotte (sample data). From New York, the outlined slots show neutral national news and a Wikipedia entry. From Charlotte, the same slots fill with a local story about branch closures and a 1.9 star complaints page: a negative result you would never see from New York. Open either page to see it in full.
Why it matters

A reputation challenge in one market can be invisible from where you sit.

If you have a reputation challenge in a specific location, you may not be aware of it from searching Google in your current location. For a brand or individual with audiences spread across markets, that blind spot is the whole risk.

●Local job listings shift the page ●Local-language content ranks differently ●IP and GPS set the searcher’s location ●A negative result can rank in one city only
How it works

In Chrome: enter a keyword, a city, and a language. GeoSearch™ does the rest.

Install the free GeoSearch™ Chrome extension and it sits in your browser toolbar. It shows you the Google results page as it appears in locations of your choice, with no proxy server or VPN. All you do is enter the keyword, the city, and the language.

Built for multi-market brands

See how you look from everywhere, at once.

GeoSearch™ was built by Five Blocks, the digital reputation management firm, to answer a question our clients live with every day: what does the results page look like to the people who matter, wherever they are?

It sits alongside our other proprietary instruments. IMPACT™ tracks the branded Google results page over time and against peers; AIQ tracks how your story surfaces across AI engines; WikiAlerts™ flags Wikipedia edits as they happen. GeoSearch™ adds the dimension the others assume: location.
