This November, Five Blocks is sharing more research than we ever have: more than 10 new studies, built with data from AIQ and IMPACT, our own platforms for tracking what AI engines and Google say about companies and their leaders. We would love your feedback. If there is research you are doing, or research you would like to do together with us, get in touch. See all #DataNovember studies.
#DataNovember, Day 4: company spotlight. We tracked what eight AI engines said about United Airlines and its CEO every day from September 6 to October 6, 2026, and compared United with the other two Fortune 100 airlines, Delta and American.
What we found
- The world’s largest airline. United is first in the world by seat miles flown (330 billion in 2025). Google’s three AI engines called American the world’s largest airline in 42 of 93 answers, and United in 4 of 92.
- Proof points. Delta publishes a plain “Corporate Stats and Facts” page, and 66% of AI answers about Delta cite it. 53% of Delta answers mention its reliability. Only 9% of United answers do, despite a record operational year.
- Fuel costs. 28 of 31 Google AI Mode answers about United bring up fuel. 74% of AI Mode answers about United include a negative point, against 16% for Delta and 13% for American.
The lesson is not only about airlines. AI repeats what it can cite. Proof points that are not published where AI looks are not in the answer.
