Can Five Blocks correct an inaccurate Knowledge Panel?

Why you can’t just edit the panel
Google states that “knowledge panels are automatically generated, and information that appears in a knowledge panel comes from various sources across the web.” The description and main facts are pulled mainly from Wikipedia and Wikidata and other authoritative sources. Google is explicit about the consequence: “descriptions come from various data sources and can’t be edited, to update descriptions, you can contact the source of the information and ask them to correct it.”
The two correction routes
- Correct the source. For substantive facts, the description, attributes, and entity data, correct the source that feeds the Knowledge Graph. That usually means a Wikipedia article (through Wikipedia’s disclosed editing process) or a Wikidata entry, since Wikidata properties feed the Knowledge Graph directly. Once the source is right, the panel updates over time.
- Submit verified feedback to Google. For a defined set of fields, a verified owner can go to Google directly. As Google puts it, “to submit verified feedback, you must verify your identity. Once you verify your identity, we can make some corrections directly, like links to social profiles.” A verified representative can manage a limited set of fields, such as the logo, official social links, and featured images, and suggest changes to the rest.
Why both, not one
The verified-owner path is fast but limited: it does not let you rewrite the description, which is generated from the underlying sources. Correcting the source is slower but reaches the facts the verified process cannot touch. Most real corrections use both at once, fix the Wikipedia or Wikidata source and file verified feedback with Google. That is the path Five Blocks guides clients through.
