What is the PR professional’s role in ensuring Wikipedia accuracy?

A PR professional can do useful work on Wikipedia, but only within four boundaries. Ignore them and the effort backfires.

1. Judge notability honestly

An article belongs on Wikipedia when independent, reliable sourcing supports it. Pushing for one that fails Wikipedia’s notability standard invites a deletion discussion, and that ends worse than having no article at all. So the first task is an honest notability assessment, before any editing work starts.

2. Pursue accuracy through a transparent process

When an existing article is wrong or incomplete, the fix runs through the Talk page and the disclosed conflict-of-interest (COI) editing process. Policy requires declaring the relationship to the subject to the Wikipedia community. Proposed changes then get argued on the merits instead of slipped in quietly.

3. Monitor for changes

4. Stay off the direct-edit path
